Greetings,

As we look forward, and commemorate the history of Wilmington Ten in various ways, we should be reminded that history has a way of repeating itself. The Wilmington Ten Foundation for Social Justice has been established in hopes of preventing what happened to the members of the Wilmington Ten from ever happening again to others, particularly youth. The members of the Wilmington Ten possessed a deep desire to seek justice and peace in the world around them; thus the mission of the foundation will include the development of programs and cultural experiences that empower those in need of social justice to excel in their endeavors, make positive life choices, and share their creativity and God-given talents in their own communities and the world at large. It is for this reason, that I have brought together an academic and community group to form the Wilmington Ten Foundation for Social Justice. We trust that the entire Wilmington, N.C. community, and the world at large will understand the compelling need for this foundation, and likewise contribute to our mission. The Wilmington Ten Foundation for Social Justice was incorporated in 2011 .

Sincerely,

Wayne Moore

Member of Wilmington Ten

Our Mission

The foundation supports human rights, self worth, democracy, and freedom. The primary mission is founded on the belief in the dignity of all people. The story of the Wilmington Ten has been a tragedy for many of those convicted that October day in 1971. It forever changed the lives of many of us and totally destroyed the lives of some. It is for this reason, that we have brought together an academic and community group to serve as a mechanism for providing educational and supportive services, that will assist with matters of social justice.  We trust that the entire Wilmington community, and world at large, will understand the compelling need for this foundation, and will contribute to our mission.

Sincerely,

Wayne Moore
