The Wilmington Ten Foundation for Social Justice, Inc. (WTFSJ), established the Dolores F. Moore Scholarship for the purpose of assisting high school students in obtaining a college education.

Eligibility Requirements
Applicant must be enrolled in New Hanover County or surrounding counties of Brunswick or Pender County high schools to be eligible to apply for the Dolores F. Moore scholarship. Applicant must be accepted by an accredited college or university. Recipient must provide proof of intent to enroll in a full time course of study.

Area of Study
Any major or course of study will be considered, however, weight will be given in the selection process to traditional courses of study and/or to educational goals that enhance the individual’s career development.
Scholarship Amount
Scholarships will be awarded in the fall of each academic year. The number and amount of scholarships will vary depending on the scholarship funds available.Scholarship award recipients will be announced during the late Spring/early Summer prior to the Fall Semester for which the scholarship is granted.
Scholarship Awards
Scholarship awards are to be applied towards room and board, tuition, fees, books, supplies and/or equipment required for the courses at the educational institution.
Selection Committee
The Application Selection Committee will consist of a minimum of 3 board members, or scholarship committee members.Any Scholarship Selection Committee member who works with, or personally knows, an applicant will be expected to excuse him or herself from consideration of that application. It is not the intention of the Scholarship Committee to unduly restrict Committee participation. Casual knowledge of an applicant is not sufficient to warrant exclusion from review and/or discussion of that application.
Selection Criteria
The Scholarship Committee will first determine that each application is complete and complies with eligibility requirements.Scholarships will be based on financial need, personal motivation, educational and career goals, and extracurricular activities, as well as consider the overall quality of the application and the funds available to the Committee for scholarships. See the Selection Criteria Matrix for suggested criteria weighting point values that will be used to assist the committee in evaluating applications.
Application Deadlines and Award Dates: It is the intent of the Scholarship Committee to maximize the assistance provided by making financial awards available by August 1st in the academic year.

Miscellaneous Information
Wilmington Ten Foundation reserves the right to use the name and/or photograph of scholarship award recipients in promotional materials designed to increase awareness of the Dolores F Moore scholarship.
